Ark Data Centres is a leader in designing and building sustainable data centres across the UK, offering cutting-edge solutions that prioritise energy efficiency and environmental responsibility. In 2018, Ark approached us with a clear objective: to refresh their digital presence with a website that not only set them apart in an industry dominated by corporate uniformity but also reinforced their commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.
To bring Ark’s vision to life, we partnered with Supereight, a creative agency known for crafting engaging digital experiences. Our goal was to design and build a website that broke away from the traditional, generic corporate aesthetic commonly seen in the data centre sector. Instead, we created a sleek, engaging, and visually compelling platform that reflected Ark’s forward-thinking approach and their emphasis on sustainability.
A key design element was the development of a bespoke icon set used throughout, expanding Ark’s branding with a new visual language. Where appropriate, these became subtle vector animations powered by CSS and SVG. These animations added a layer of visual interest and were used to draw attention to key features.
Beyond aesthetics, we developed several interactive tools that allowed users to explore Ark’s offerings:
Cost Calculator (seen above): A tool allowing potential customers to tweak variables such as power consumption, cost, and efficiency values to estimate potential savings by migrating to Ark.
Configurator: This tool enabled prospective clients to customise and spec datacentre infrastructure based on their unique requirements, making the decision-making process more intuitive and informed.
The redesigned website provided an engaging user experience while effectively communicating Ark’s commitment to efficiency and social responsibility.
Although this iteration of the website was retired in March 2025 when Ark moved on to a new digital strategy, our work played a pivotal role in elevating their online presence and engaging a wider audience.
